Dan Harmon Is 4chan's Next Victim

Now it seems like Community and Rick and Morty creator Dan Harmon, is the next victim of 4chan's super-sleuthing.

This comes off of the story that was published last week regarding Guardian's of The Galaxy director James Gunn. Gunn lost his job working on the Disney and Marvel Cinematic Universe films due to his offensive jokes about pedophilia that he wrote on Twitter back in 2008, crediting right-wing 4chan users and Conservative personalities for the ousting.

Back in 2009, Dan Harmon created a small parody pilot of the hit "serial killer with heart of gold" series Dexter, titled Daryl. Unfortunately, the parody was in bad taste considering the premise of the show was, "a baby rapist with a heart of gold." In the video, the lead character was seen going back in time to stop serial killers by sexually assaulting them when they were younger with Harmon playing the lead the role in the sketch.

Adult Swim, the network that airs Harmon's Rick and Morty, released a statement,

“At Adult Swim, we seek out and encourage creative freedom and look to push the envelope in many ways, particularly around comedy. The offensive content of Dan’s 2009 video that recently surfaced demonstrates poor judgement and does not reflect the type of content we seek out. Dan recognized his mistake at the time and has apologized. He understands there is no place for this type of content here at Adult Swim."

Harmon has also released an official apology,

"In 2009, I made a 'pilot' which strove to parody the series Dexter and only succeeded in offending. I quickly realized the content was way too distasteful and took the video down immediately. Nobody should ever have to see what you saw and for that, I sincerely apologize."

Adult Swim has not decided to fire Dan Harmon at this time.
