Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Final Roster!

Here’s a mental picture for you:

I’m sitting in front of the TV, the final Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Nintendo Direct is on, I’m thinking, “Of course, there’s going to be at least a few more characters. We have to round off the character list at an even 70. It doesn’t make sense not to.”

With that thought in mind, for number 68 we get Ken from Street Fighter. The thought process behind such a selection is not out of the realm of possibility. Masahiro Sakurai is really liking the echo fighter concept and they already had Ryu so why not. Ken, like Ryu, gets two Final Smash attacks depending on the proximity of other fighters.

Number 69 was a bit of a shock character wise with Incineroar, but considering we haven’t seen a Pokemon character from Sun & Moon, so that too was not that far reaching. The fighter brings some new flashy pro-wrestling type moves to the game, and his Final Smash just decimates the playing field.

Ok. The final character. Number 70. The one character we’ve all been waiting for. The final character that has been ever present in Nintendo’s Mario catalog time and time again. My good ol’ meme boy…..

PIRANHA PLANT!

And I’m just like…I’m still getting the game. Sorry Waluigi. Here’s hoping you are one of the DLC packs.

The Piranha Plant is the first of several DLC to be released in the coming year. This first DLC is included for free if Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is pre-ordered, so that’s incentive enough.

Along with DLC, the game comes with some other goodies that have changed up how we play Smash. There’s a Spirits mechanic that ties into the Adventure mode that replaces trophies, new ways to play online and gain rankings, and cool new modes to play with your friends in local matches.
